Health and the 5 Elements (How is
it related to the 5 elements of Feng Shui?). Presented with
case studies
|
| Speaker |
: |
Teng Ngiing Heng |
The basic principle that
underlies Feng Shui and human body is Yin and Yang; the two
interdependent yet complimentary polarities which all things
in the universe are made of. Yin and Yang also play a pivotal
role in the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).
The clinical diagnosis and treatment in TCM are mainly
based on the Yin-Yang and Five Elements theories. These
theories apply the phenomena and the laws of nature to the
study of the physiological activities and pathological of
the human body and its interrelationships. "Cycle of
Birth" and "Cycle of Destruction" are useful
theories for TCM practitioners.
TCM holds that human life and health is a physiological
process in constant motion and change. Under normal conditions,
the waxing and waning of Yin and Yang are kept within certain
bounds, reflecting a dynamic equilibrium of the physiological
processes.
When the balance is broken, disease occurs. Typical cases
of disease-related imbalance include excess of Yin, excess
of Yang, deficiency of Yin, and deficiency of Yang.

Architecture Design Strategy in
Feng Shui (How is Feng Shui related to property development).
Presented with case studies
|
| Speaker |
: |
Dr. Mauro Rahardjo |
Feng Shui knowledge has penetrated
to the society at large and as a result they demand Feng Shui
as a design paradigm for their buildings. Many architects
in Asia and worldwide face this challenge. As Feng Shui is
a recent introduction in modern building design, conflict
of interest between architects and Feng Shui Masters arises
and this creates a serious issue in the profession. Problems
encountered include good designs being discarded to meet Feng
Shui requirements especially when the client suddenly becomes
aware that the design does not conform to Feng Shui principles.
In order to overcome these problems, through his years of
research and design experiences, Dr Mauro Rahardjo has identified
5 areas of design strategy for Feng Shui. This strategy will
become a practical tool for architects and designers to nip
the problem in the bud. |

The Ba Gua is a set of ancient
cultural principles in China of more than 6000 years. This Ba Gua,
with the simple Yin and Yang Yao, was formulated by Fu Hsi. All
Chinese philosophy, medicine, predictions, metaphysics and Feng
Shui has been derived from this.
Through history, more than 3000 people have explained
and translated the I-Ching. All of them were great scholars.
Over a thousand year ago, Emperor Zhou was imprisoned
for many years. He spent his time researching the arrangement of
the Ba Gua by Fu Hsi and rearranged the Ba Gua by himself. Therefore,
the Fu Hsi Ba Gua is called the Early Heaven Ba Gua and the Emperor
Zhou Ba Gua is called the Later Heaven Ba Gua. In addition, he included
the five Elements. It is from here that the I-Ching was formulated.
Now, many people say that the Fu Hsi Ba Gua is
the theory of nature and the environment. The Emperor Zhou Ba Gua
is based on the application of the five Elements. Today the Later
Heaven Ba Gua is widely used in Ba Zi, Qi Men Dun Jia, Mei Hua Yi
Shu, Feng Shui, Zi Wei Dou Shu et cetera.
Even Confucius is one of those who translated and
explained the I-Ching thoroughly. Confucius’ explanation is
widely used to study the I-Ching until now. |

Heaven and Earth: Chinese Astronomy
and Feng Shui.
|
| Speaker |
: |
Derek Walters |
The Chinese number three
reveals the three kinds of Fate which influence our lives;
the top line represents Heaven, the bottom line Earth, and
the middle line ourselves. The opportunities given by Heaven
are revealed by Time and astronomy, the situation on Earth
by Feng Shui. The Luopan links these two together. Its outer
ring displays the sky divided into the 28 mansions used by
Chinese astronomers to note the positions of the Sun and Moon.
Thus the luopan could be used to predict all kinds of catastrophes,
from earthquakes to bird ‘flu. |
