Health and the 5 Elements (How is it related to the 5 elements of Feng Shui?). Presented with case studies

Speaker : Teng Ngiing Heng
The basic principle that underlies Feng Shui and human body is Yin and Yang; the two interdependent yet complimentary polarities which all things in the universe are made of. Yin and Yang also play a pivotal role in the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).

The clinical diagnosis and treatment in TCM are mainly based on the Yin-Yang and Five Elements theories. These theories apply the phenomena and the laws of nature to the study of the physiological activities and pathological of the human body and its interrelationships. "Cycle of Birth" and "Cycle of Destruction" are useful theories for TCM practitioners.

TCM holds that human life and health is a physiological process in constant motion and change. Under normal conditions, the waxing and waning of Yin and Yang are kept within certain bounds, reflecting a dynamic equilibrium of the physiological processes.

When the balance is broken, disease occurs. Typical cases of disease-related imbalance include excess of Yin, excess of Yang, deficiency of Yin, and deficiency of Yang.

Speaker : GM Yap Cheng Hai
The Ba Gua is a set of ancient cultural principles in China of more than 6000 years. This Ba Gua, with the simple Yin and Yang Yao, was formulated by Fu Hsi. All Chinese philosophy, medicine, predictions, metaphysics and Feng Shui has been derived from this.

Through history, more than 3000 people have explained and translated the I-Ching. All of them were great scholars.

Over a thousand year ago, Emperor Zhou was imprisoned for many years. He spent his time researching the arrangement of the Ba Gua by Fu Hsi and rearranged the Ba Gua by himself. Therefore, the Fu Hsi Ba Gua is called the Early Heaven Ba Gua and the Emperor Zhou Ba Gua is called the Later Heaven Ba Gua. In addition, he included the five Elements. It is from here that the I-Ching was formulated.

Now, many people say that the Fu Hsi Ba Gua is the theory of nature and the environment. The Emperor Zhou Ba Gua is based on the application of the five Elements. Today the Later Heaven Ba Gua is widely used in Ba Zi, Qi Men Dun Jia, Mei Hua Yi Shu, Feng Shui, Zi Wei Dou Shu et cetera.

Even Confucius is one of those who translated and explained the I-Ching thoroughly. Confucius’ explanation is widely used to study the I-Ching until now.
